SHEIKHA MOUZA RECEIVES HONORARY DEGREE

The University Al Karaouine (Fez, Morocco) has awarded an honorary doctorate to Sheikha Mouza under Minister Lahcen Daoudi’s strategy to turn Moroccan universities and their spaces of scientific research into beacons of science and knowledge.

Al Karaouine University is older than Egypt’s Al Azhar University (built 970AD) and its European counterparts: the University of Oxford, which is regarded as the oldest university in the English-speaking world (founded around 1096), and the University of Bologna (founded approximately 1088). The historic university of Fezis recognised by the Guinness Book of World Records as the oldest degree-granting university in the world.
