The UAE is the happiest Arab country and the 17th happiest in the world according to a UN-commissioned report. The World Happiness Report, published by the University of Columbia’s Earth Institute, indicates the happiest countries “tend to be high-income countries that also have a high degree of social equality, trust, and quality of governance”. The report says the four happiest countries are Denmark, Norway, Finland and the Netherlands. The four least happy are poor countries in sub-Saharan Africa, with Togo ranked last of the 156 nations surveyed. Another survey, the UAE Opinion Survey by the market researcher TNS Mena, gave the UAE a satisfaction rating of 91%.
